Rum på 13 m²

We Amanda (29) and Jakob (32) live in a red wooden house not far from Uppsala’s centrum and are searching now for a new roommate preferably from 1 January onwards. The house owner is SLU and the rent is 2335SEK (+ electricity and WIFI so a total of around 3000/month).

A little bit about us: Jakob: I do like to think that I am a warm and caring person. I can get excited about a lot of things and sometimes I feel like I have too many hobbies such as chess, reading books, dancing, singing, guitar and a lot of outdoor sports. I work in Stockholm and often want my quiet after a long day in the office, but I do enjoy and value a good conversation. Nerdy about politics and history. Even though I am a rather serious person, I do always want to preserve my inner child and keep being a silly weird goofball. I have lived in Sweden for quite a while, but am Austrian + born and raised in Germany.

Amanda: I am a quite calm and easy-going person who loves a good laugh. I love going to cultural events such as live music and arts-related events. I play the guitar (currently learning to play kompa), sing, do yoga, paint, dance, and sometimes cook elaborate meals for the fun of it! I am interested in art, social science, feminism, decolonisation, politics and travel. I currently study in Stockholm and work part-time in Uppsala. I enjoy having time to myself in the evenings but also like having a chat, watching a movie, or doing a random activity now and then. I am a Third Culture Kid (TCK) born in Sweden and raised in Senegal and Burkina Faso.

Living situation

We are not a party flatshare and can be quite caught up in our lives. However, we do think for a nice co-living it is important to like and value each other and have an occasional tea together. We are a queer-friendly flatshare and it’s important for us to create a warm and safe space at home for everyone to be themselves!

Some things that are important for us: -preferably you already have some experience living with others -you are preferably queer yourself or an ally -you have experience being in multicultural spaces and are respectful and curious about other people -you are able to clean after yourself (we have a cleaning plan and take turns cleaning the house) -When living together with others, there will always be things that need to be talked about and aligned. You feel open to do doing so in a respectful and appreciative way in direct conversation or in regular flatshare meetings -you are able and willing to speak English (Jakob is not fluent in Swedish) -The house has quite a big garden so next to cleaning responsibilities it is important that you are willing to i.e. cut the grass at times -Noise travels quite easily in the house so we have a general rule to not cook after 9.30 and be fully quiet in the kitchen after 10 (non-negotiable). The same goes for early mornings where we try to be as quiet as possible as to not disturb others
